The city of Galesburg’s employee volunteer committee, Galesburg GIVES, collected nonperishable food items and $4,205 for FISH of Galesburg during a food drive Friday, June 12.
The donations filled a truck bed and a paratransit bus, according to the city.
“This event was a wonderful reminder of what happens when Galesburg comes together,” said Kelli Bennewitz, city clerk and Galesburg GIVES committee member. “We are incredibly proud of our community and city staff for teaming up to support FISH of Galesburg.”
Galesburg GIVES was founded this year as a city staff committee to coordinate employee civic engagement and volunteerism.
