The Carl Sandburg women’s volleyball team remained undefeated at home with a four-set win against Illinois Valley on Sept. 10.
The Chargers defeated Illinois Valley, 25-23, 25-13, 17-25, 25-13, to boost their home court record to 3-0.
Harlee Hainds had 11 kills, while Jalie Eller and Madalyn Knapp had nine apiece. Quinn Rexroat served six aces, including five during a 10-0 run in the fourth set. The Chargers’ next match is at 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at Sauk Valley.

High School Soccer and Volleyball
Galesburg High School hosted home matches in soccer and volleyball Tuesday night, Sept. 9, but both teams came up short.

The soccer team fell to visiting United Township, 5-0, leaving the team with a season record of 1-3-1. The Streaks play at Alleman on Sept. 16 and at Abingdon-Avon on Sept. 18 before returning home to face Limestone on Sept. 20
The volleyball team lost to Rock Island, 2-0. The loss left the Silver Streaks with a 5-6 record. The team takes to the road for three matches — at United Township on Sept. 11, at Quincy on Sept. 16 and at Geneseo on Sept. 18 — before returning home to face Sterling on Sept. 23.
