Volleyball: Galesburg 2, Richwoods 1
The Galesburg volleyball team ended its regular season on a high note, defeating Peoria Richwoods 2-1 in Thiel Gym.

The Silver Streaks will head into the Galesburg Regional with a 14-20 overall record and a 3-11 mark in the Western Big 6. Richwoods ends its regular season at 10-19.

Galesburg plays Streator in the regional quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 in Thiel Gym. The winner will advance to the regional semifinals to play No. 2 seed LaSalle-Peru at 6 p.m. Oct. 28, also in Thiel Gym.

Streator is 17-16-2 on the season but has struggled recently, losing nine of its last 12 matches. Galesburg is 5-7 in its last 12 matches.

Plano and Rockford East will face off in the other quarterfinal pairing, to be played in Sterling. The winner of that match will play No. 1-seeded Morris in Sterling.

Knox College
Football: Oct. 25 game canceled
In a post on X, Lawrence University announced that its scheduled home football game against Knox College on Oct. 25 has been canceled due to injuries among members of the Vikings team. The post said Lawrence was erring on the side of caution out of respect for its student-athletes’ well-being.

“While we are disappointed that the game cannot be played, we respect and acknowledge the difficult decision that has been made and believe that the health and safety of all student-athletes come first,” said Justin Newell, Knox vice president and director of athletics.

The Prairie Fire will next host Cornell College at 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at Stisser Field at the Knosher Bowl.
