UPDATE: Knox County property tax bills moved to the next stage this week after the Knox County Clerk’s Office completed the tax extension process for 2025 taxes payable in 2026.

County Clerk and Recorder Scott Erickson announced the completed tax extension information had been forwarded to the Knox County Treasurer’s Office, which is responsible for printing and mailing tax bills and establishing payment due dates.

The update follows an earlier announcement from Knox County Treasurer Robin E. Davis that tax bills had been delayed because the clerk’s office had not yet completed the extension process, which determines tax rates for each taxing district.

Payment deadlines have not yet been announced.

Erickson said the extension process requires careful review to avoid calculation errors that could result in corrected tax bills being reissued.

The Treasurer’s Office previously said tax bills were expected to be mailed within about three weeks after receiving finalized data from the clerk’s office.
