The Knox County Board of Health is seeking applications from licensed physicians to fill a remaining term on the Board of Health that runs through June 2028.

Following the conclusion of the current term, the selected physician could be recommended to remain on the Board of Health for a full three-year term.

State of Illinois law requires that the Board of Health maintain two licensed physician members at all times. Eligible applicants include licensed physicians who live and/or work in Knox County, as well as retired physicians who reside in Knox County and maintain an active medical license.

The Board of Health consists of nine members, all appointed by the Knox County Board. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings held on the second Thursday of each month. Meetings typically last between one hour and one-and-a-half hours. The Board of Health helps guide the county’s public health department and strengthen the local public health system.
