
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory for the region beginning Friday, Jan. 16.
Forecasts call for scattered snow showers Friday afternoon and evening that could bring light accumulations, reduced visibility, brief periods of strong winds and slippery travel conditions.
Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to follow. Wind chills are forecast to reach minus 3 degrees Sunday morning and again Sunday night. By Monday morning, wind chills could dip to minus 18 degrees, with an actual temperature near minus 1.
Several warming centers will be available in Galesburg and across Knox County:
