
Galesburg precinct results in the March 17 primary election largely mirrored countywide outcomes in several key races, according to data from the Knox County Clerk and the Galesburg Election Commission.
In the most competitive local race, the Knox County Board District 1 Republican primary, countywide totals confirmed Dylan Sage and Tammy L. Weiss as the top two finishers, advancing to the November general election. Anthony R. Weiss finished third and was eliminated.
Galesburg precinct results showed the same order of finish, with Sage leading and Tammy Weiss second.
On the Democratic side of District 1, Jaclyn Smith-Esters and Cheryl Nache both advanced in the two-seat contest. The race was close in Galesburg, where Smith-Esters edged Nache by 11 votes, though both candidates advanced based on countywide totals.
Other county board races were largely uncontested across Knox County. In District 2, Republican Robert Bondi advanced unopposed. In District 3, Democrat Pamela Davidson also advanced without opposition.
District 4 featured another contested Republican primary, where incumbent Jared Hawkinson and challenger Bradley Hix both advanced to the general election. Democrat Pam Godsil, who was unopposed in the primary, will join them on the November ballot.
In District 5, Republican Brian Friedrich advanced unopposed.
Knox County Board districts 1, 2 and 3 are based in Galesburg, while districts 4 and 5 cover rural townships.
In the Democratic race for 17th Congressional District central committeeperson, Pamela Davidson received 1,446 votes to 907 for Maurice West.

While county board outcomes were generally consistent across precincts, voting patterns differed between Galesburg and the rest of Knox County.
In countywide offices, Democratic candidates carried Galesburg by margins of roughly 350 to 475 votes in the county clerk and treasurer races. Those margins were offset by larger Republican totals outside the city.
Within Galesburg, Democrats accounted for 57.44 percent of ballots cast, compared with 42.56 percent for Republicans.
In the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, Galesburg voters favored Raja Krishnamoorthi with 46.46 percent of the vote, while countywide results showed him with just over 50 percent.
On the Republican side, Galesburg voters backed Don Tracy with 43.38 percent, compared with about 40 percent countywide.
In the Republican primary for governor, Galesburg voters supported the Darren Bailey–Stephanie Trussell ticket, which received 63.45 percent of the city vote. Countywide totals showed Bailey with about 69 percent of the vote.
Overall turnout in Galesburg was 3,038 voters out of 17,301 registered voters, or 17.56 percent. Election Day voting accounted for the largest share of ballots cast, followed by early voting and vote-by-mail.
