Limestone holds off Galesburg soccer

Limestone scored twice in the first half and held on to beat Galesburg 2-1 April 30 in a nonconference girls soccer match.

The Rockets took a 2-0 lead into halftime on goals by Makinzie Williams and Savannah Meyers. Gracie Sims assisted on both goals.

“It was a disappointing night for us with a 1-2 loss,” coach Jessica Jones said. “Limestone scored their two in the first half, and we were only able to answer with one goal. However, the girls played so hard during the second half and left it all on the field.”

Galesburg cut the deficit in the second half when freshman Haleigh Jezek-Irle scored. Grace Hansen had the assist for the Silver Streaks.
