Two boys, two girls advance from Geneseo Sectional

Galesburg will send two boys and two girls to the Illinois High School Association Class 2A state wrestling championships after strong performances at the Geneseo Sectional on Feb. 14.

Junior Jack Bernardi (23-12) qualified with a third-place finish at 157 pounds. Senior Mason Taylor (30-9) also placed third at 175 pounds.

Jack Bernardi qualified for the Illinois High School Association Class 2A state wrestling tournament with a third-place finish at 157 pounds at the Geneseo Sectional on Feb. 14.

Landon Darst (132 pounds) and Anthony Makwala (165 pounds) also competed for Galesburg at the sectional.

The boys state tournament is scheduled for Feb. 19-21 at the State Farm Center in Champaign.

Mason Taylor advanced to the Illinois High School Association Class 2A state wrestling tournament after placing third at 175 pounds at the Geneseo Sectional on Feb. 14.

On the girls side, Amyah Pruitt (21-12) placed fourth at 120 pounds, and Dai’Driana Willford (27-6) finished third at 130 pounds.

Delilah Gregory (135 pounds) and Vivian Aldus (140 pounds) also represented Galesburg at the sectional.

The girls state tournament will be Feb. 27-28 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
