GALESBURG — Three BNSF railroad crossings in Galesburg will be temporarily closed next week for surface repairs, the city announced Friday.
The Broad Street and Whitesboro Street crossings will close at 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, and reopen at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The North Academy Street crossing will close from 6 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, through 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.
The city stated that the closures are necessary for rail crossing surface improvements aimed at enhancing long-term safety and infrastructure reliability.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use alternate routes during the work periods. Updates on closures and construction projects are available on the City of Galesburg website.
