Soccer: Metamora 5, Galesburg 0
The Metamora boys varsity soccer team defeated visiting Galesburg 5-0 in a nonconference match.

Galesburg is 3-7-1 for the season, 0-3 in the Western Big 6. Metamora is 6-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference.

Women’s golf: Sandburg 5th at Clash
The Sandburg women’s golf team recorded a fifth-place finish at the Clash at the Creek on Sept. 23 at Nettle Creek in Morris.

The Chargers shot 370 as a team and were second among four NJCAA programs in the 10-team field. Sandburg finished two shots back of fellow Region 4 school Rock Valley, which was fourth. The Chargers finished ahead of DuPage and Joliet, who tied for sixth at 386.

Olivia Seei had Sandburg’s low round of the day, shooting a 19-over-par 90 to tie for 13th. Anna Carroll was one stroke behind Seei with a 91, tying for 15th. Carroll’s day included a birdie at the par-4 17th hole.

Judson University shot 346 as a team to win the event by seven shots over Carthage. Rock Valley’s Amelia Dunseth was the individual champion with a 7-over 78, two strokes ahead of DuPage’s Isabella Krosse.

Sophomore Zoe Thunhurst dominated for the Prairie Fire in their first home match.

Knox College Sports
Volleyball: Knox 3, Principia 0
The Knox College volleyball team celebrated its first home match of the season Sept. 25 by defeating Principia in straight sets, 25-12, 25-21, 25-21.

It was the second straight win for the Prairie Fire, improving to 2-16 on the season. Principia is 1-1 with a limited schedule.

Jabor Jahn led Knox with 10 kills and a .259 attack percentage, while Bri Haddon and sophomore Zoe Thunhurst added seven kills apiece. Thunhurst finished three kills shy of a triple-double (11 assists, 12 digs).

Holland had four aces and a career-high 19 assists, and Gamez matched a personal best with six kills for the third time this season. Senior libero Sam Black added 12 digs to the winning effort.
