

Boys golf: Galesburg third at Macomb Regional
The Silver Streaks boys golf team will advance to the state sectionals after placing third in the Class 2A Macomb Regional on Oct. 1.
Quincy (Notre Dame) took first place in the regional, shooting 291, followed by Dunlap at 318 and Galesburg at 327. All three teams advance to the sectional at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington on Oct. 6.
Aidan Nelson led the Streaks with a round of 77, good for 10th place, followed by teammate Cole Furrow in 11th with a 79. Rounding out the individual scores for Galesburg were Colin Archer, 82; Tyler Robinson, 89; Cooper Perez, 92; and Jordan Miner, 106.
Beau Eftink of Quincy (Notre Dame) was the medalist with a 66. He was among four Notre Dame golfers to crack the top 10.
Girls golf: Dulcie advances to sectionals
Galesburg senior Addi Dulcie will advance to the state girls golf sectionals after placing seventh in the Class 2A Regional in Macomb on Sept. 30.
Dulcie shot a 79 for the day to finish behind the 73 of medalist Sydney Hunt from Dunlap.
Normal won the team title with a 306, followed by Dunlap, 329, and Morton, 335.
Other Galesburg scores included Madeline Bond at 105 and Maralyn Crock-Keefer at 116.
The Class 2A Sectional will be held Oct. 10-11 at the Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur.

Volleyball: Sandburg 3, Kishwaukee 0
The Sandburg volleyball team had its second-best hitting night of the season in a 25-11, 25-20, 25-9 sweep at Kishwaukee on Oct. 1.

The Chargers (11-12 overall, 5-1 Arrowhead Conference) hit .317 in routing the Kougars, with 37 kills to just 11 errors on 82 attacks.
Harlee Hainds put down a team-best 10 kills to lead Sandburg’s attack. Jalie Eller contributed nine kills and matched Addison Gillen for the team lead with 11 digs. It marked the ninth time in the last 10 matches Eller has had double-digit digs.
The Chargers will host Lakeland at 1 p.m. Oct. 4 and then travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the Grand Rapids Tournament on Oct. 5.

Men’s soccer: Knox 1, Illinois College 0
In a rematch of last year’s Midwest Conference Tournament semifinals, the Knox College men’s soccer team avenged its shootout loss by defeating visiting Illinois College 1-0 on Oct. 1 at Jorge Prats Field.
Sophomore defender Chrisangel Djambazian scored his first career goal in the 77th minute to break the scoreless deadlock, giving the Prairie Fire (5-2-3, 1-1 MWC) the victory over the Blueboys (6-2-2, 1-1 MWC).
“We needed that after our display to open MWC play,” Knox Coach Tyler Sheikh said about the team’s 2-0 loss at Lake Forest. “This was truly a team win and to get a goal from our right back in the run of play is a testament to the effort we had end to end.”
Knox goes back on the road for its next Midwest Conference battle, playing at Beloit (5-5-2, 2-0 MWC) at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 4.
