Allen Chapel AME Church will host a Juneteenth Soul Food Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the church, 153 E. Tompkins St. in Galesburg.
The event will feature free soul food, with freewill donations accepted. Organizers said the celebration will also include presentations by Semenya McCord and Wendel Hunigan on the history of Juneteenth and the history of Allen Chapel, which is recognized as Knox County’s oldest African American church.
The event is open to the public and is sponsored by CBI Bank & Trust.
