The City of Galesburg will host a city-wide food drive June 12 through its employee volunteer committee, Galesburg GIVES, with donations benefiting FISH of Galesburg.
The “Drive By — Drop Off — Do Good” food drive will run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the Galesburg Public Square. A designated drive-by drop-off lane will be located on the northwest quadrant of the square.
According to the city, the event is intended to bring together residents, businesses, churches and civic organizations to support the local food pantry during the summer months, when demand often increases. FISH of Galesburg currently serves more than 900 families and more than 2,200 individuals each month.
Requested donation items include cereal, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, canned tuna and chicken, and canned pasta items such as ravioli and SpaghettiOs. Monetary donations also will be accepted, and online donations may be made through FISH of Galesburg.
