Community volunteers will gather Saturday morning to plant 28 trees at a site on Veterans Drive.
The planting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Hawthorne Center and Fire Training Center, 2233 Veterans Drive. Volunteers will help plant a variety of trees, including oaks, maples, crabapples, hornbeams, lilacs, dogwoods and yellowwoods.
Organizers encourage community members to participate. Volunteers are asked to bring a round-point shovel, bolt cutters, gloves and a utility knife. Pastries are also welcome.
