GALESBURG — A Galesburg woman is facing felony drug and gun charges following a Sept. 23 arrest at her home.
At 4:15 p.m. that day, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 346 E. Fifth St. as part of a narcotics investigation.
The suspect, Amanda D. Temple, 42, told deputies she only had drugs for personal use and that a gun in the residence did not belong to her.
According to the police report, a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine, several pipes, and a used syringe were found in plain sight in the living room. Deputies later found a “very large” plastic baggie of suspected methamphetamine, which Temple admitted was hers, and said she had been selling methamphetamine for several months.
A 9mm handgun was also found in the residence. Temple said it belonged to someone else but that she kept it for protection.
Temple was taken into custody and booked at the Knox County Jail.
On Oct. 2, she was charged with Class X felony meth delivery over 900 grams, Class X felony meth possession over 900 grams, Class 3 felony possession of a firearm, two counts of Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of hypodermic needles or syringes.
Temple remains in custody at the Knox County Jail. Her next scheduled court date is Nov. 12 for a status hearing.
