Boys soccer: Galesburg 3, East Peoria 0
Obed Mbaia scored twice and Kevine Mbaya added a goal as Galesburg blanked visiting East Peoria 3-0 on Oct. 2.
It was the Silver Streaks’ seventh straight shutout win over the Raiders, who fell to 3-11.
With their second consecutive victory, the Streaks improved to 5-7-1 overall and 1-3 in the Western Big 6 after the nonconference match.
Galesburg will host Monmouth-Roseville at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 4.
Girls volleyball: Rock Island 2, Galesburg 0
Rock Island edged Galesburg 25-23 in the first set before cruising to a 25-10 win in the second on Oct. 2.
The loss dropped the Silver Streaks to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in the Western Big 6.
Galesburg will host United Township on Oct. 7.
Men’s soccer: Sandburg 8, UW-Whitewater 0
Luis Garcia scored three straight goals in the first half as Carl Sandburg rolled to an 8-0 victory over visiting UW-Whitewater (Rock County) on Oct. 2 in Galesburg.
Garcia added a fourth goal to close the Chargers’ scoring. Valentin Kretschmer, Leon Woldu, Emiliano Sosa and Hugo Flores also found the net.
Goalkeeper Sergi Cruz made two saves in posting the shutout.
Sandburg plays at Oakton on Oct. 4 and returns home Oct. 8 to face Black Hawk College.
